Rick and Kathy have been members since 1982. They have five grown children and six grandchildren. Rick is a Circuit Judge for Jackson County, where he practiced law for 30 years before becoming a judge. Kathy is a full time domestic engineer and is the primary caregiver for her mother, who lives with them. Rick rejoined the board in 2014 after taking a lengthy leave of absence to serve on the board of Jackson Christian School. In addition to serving as the chairman and treasurer of the church board, Rick also serves on the audio visual team and teaches the junior high Sunday School class. When not occupied with work or church business Rick likes cutting wood to heat their home and cross country skiing, and still plays basketball regularly for exercise. They both enjoy traveling to visit their children and grandchildren in Chicago, Phoenix and Seattle, and to Michigan's UP, where they met.

Dale and his wife Janet have been attending SLBC since October 1994, when they moved to the area from IN to continue the family farm operation. They currently raise sheep and rotate crops of corn and soybeans. Dale serves on the American Lamb Board and is involved with the Michigan Sheep Breeders Association. Dale has been serving as an Elder at SLBC for several years now in areas of children’s ministries, men’s group and building and grounds.
